Wal-Dor Industries began with an innovative farmer

The legacy of Waldron and Doreen Eckstein

Steeped in agriculture, Waterloo Region has been known for centuries for its work ethic and innovation. Farm producers like Waldron and Doreen Eckstein developed innovative machines to process their raw materials. Other agricultural producers benefited from these innovations and new industries were born.

In 1979, Waldron founded Wal-Dor Industries to provide customized grain drying solutions. The company name reflects the lifelong partnership between himself and his wife Doreen, who died in 2017. Until his recent retirement, Waldron created VERS-A-BELT Dryer solutions for hundreds of clients in agriculture, forestry, and fishery. Waldron still checks in at Wal-Dor Industries to keep current on industry trends and the company’s latest custom dehydration projects.

The second-generation – an expanded vision

Metal fabrication: Wayne and Mark Eckstein expands Wal-Dor Industries

Wayne and Mark Eckstein was a young man when he came on board in 1983 to help his father fabricate dehydrators. A few months later, Wayne and Mark provided metal fabrication for a local millwright who quickly recognized his skill and work ethic. For the next ten years, Wayne and Mark provided metal fabrications for many clients under the supervision of this experienced millwright. He quickly established a reputation with other millwrights as a proficient, knowledgeable metal fabrication specialist who produced quality work. This early diversification enabled Wal-Dor Industries to optimize its equipment and manpower. Since then, Wal-Dor Industries has provided metal fabrication solutions for government institutions and manufacturers, including Toyota, Honda, and GM.

Still providing innovative solutions for agriculture

Since 1979, Wal-Dor Industries has supplied over 165 dehydrators for producers of food, agricultural, lumber, bio-waste, and post-consumer products. Wal-Dor Industries continues to fabricate innovative dehydration solutions based on extensive research for many raw material and end-product applications. It has shipped commercial dehydrators throughout Canada & the United States, Finland, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, and Israel.
